US Cities Launch AI Noise Cameras to Combat Vehicle Noise Pollution

In the US, Newport, Rhode Island, and Manhattan are implementing AI-based ‘noise camera’ systems to curb vehicle noise pollution. Newport’s system, which includes pole-mounted and mobile units, uses traffic cameras combined with sound-detecting technology to identify and warn drivers of noise violations in real time. Manhattan is deploying SoundVue’s ‘noise cameras’ to detect and fine loud vehicles. Both systems have been tested in various neighbourhoods to address increasing noise pollution issues.
