UK-based Connexin has been awarded an AMI framework contract by Northumbrian Water to manage over 900,000 smart water meters across the North East of England. This follows a similar contract with Essex and Suffolk Water. Connexin’s low-powered LoRaWAN® network will facilitate near real-time data transmission from smart meters, helping to detect and fix leaks more efficiently.

By 2029, Connexin aims to connect over 330,000 LoRaWAN-enabled water meters, expanding to 900,000 over the 15-year contract. This initiative aims to enhance household and network leak detection, improving water conservation and providing customers with real-time water usage data.

The Northumbrian Water agreement is the fourth major smart water meter win for Connexin having already secured Yorkshire WaterSevern Trent Water and Essex and Suffolk Water, meaning that Connexin will have the most extensive IoT LoRaWAN network across the UK.
