New Project (Full-Scale)USACity of AlexandriaMobility and TrafficVideosurveillance
Published on January 17, 2024
Alexandria, Virginia, is installing adaptive traffic signals, as part of its Smart Mobility Program, to optimize real-time traffic flow, and reduce delays and stops. The system uses cameras to detect queue sizes, adjusting signals dynamically, thus improving travel for drivers, buses, and emergency vehicles. The 14.5 million dollar project involves upgrading signal software, implementing new controllers for future autonomous vehicle integration, and deploying vehicle sensors. The aim is to enhance mobility, safety, and traffic management while preparing for emerging transportation technologies.
