Arcadis has announced a partnership with Houston Public Works to lead a $5.7 million project over three years, developing a digital twin and updates for Houston’s water distribution model. This project addresses the need for a more detailed management of localized impacts like low water pressure, brought on by Houston’s rapid population growth. The initiative aims to create a sustainable and efficient water system that ensures safe water delivery, meets the city’s current and future needs, and supports capital improvement programs. Arcadis will use an “Intelligent Water” approach for a comprehensive model review, update, and calibration, enhancing the capability to monitor and manage the water distribution system’s hydraulics and water quality at an individual customer level.
