Great River Energy, a cooperative serving 1.7 million people in Minnesota and Wisconsin, has announced a partnership with Prisma Photonics to deploy cutting-edge grid monitoring technology. This collaboration aims to enhance the resilience of approximately 90 miles of transmission lines in central and northern Minnesota, leveraging PrismaPower™ solutions to address threats like wildfires, icing, wind, and physical damage.

The multi-year initiative integrates PrismaCircuit™ and PrismaClimate™ systems with existing fiber optic infrastructure, and is expected to enable real-time monitoring without the need for physical sensors or service interruptions. Covering five key transmission lines linked to four substations, the technology should provide precise, location-based alerts for grid disturbances, helping crews respond swiftly and effectively.
