The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is developing a 5G-supported digital roads network, funded by a £3 million grant, to reduce congestion and emissions and prioritize public transport. The initiative, enhancing the local 5G Create project, includes IoT sensors and cloud systems, and extends to integrating smart energy grids in public housing, using 5G for efficient electricity management. This is part of Manchester’s plan for net-zero emissions by 2038 and the digital transformation of public services.
