Maynilad Pilots AI Technology for Enhanced Leak Detection

Maynilad Water Services has announced its plan to pilot advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance pipe condition monitoring. The AI, called Infrawise, developed by Portugal-based AGS, will identify areas with a high likelihood of leaks in the water distribution system.

In October 2023, Maynilad began testing Infrawise over 1,700 kilometers of pipelines, successfully identifying 1,525 leaks in 750 kilometers. Following this pilot, Maynilad intends to extend AI monitoring to an additional 1,500 kilometers of pipelines.

Additionally, Maynilad uses AI from Asterra to detect underground leaks via satellite images. This initiative aims to improve water conservation and service reliability.
