Sigfox South Africa to Upgrade 15 Million Water Meters

Sigfox South Africa, an IoT network operator, has been awarded a government contract to upgrade around 15 million water meters to smart devices. The project will deploy the local Sigfox network for all newly installed smart water meters nationwide. Previously overseen by SqwidNet and subsequently taken over by Unabiz, the South African Sigfox network is currently undergoing significant restructuring. This initiative aims to improve both revenue collection and service delivery by ensuring that all new meter’s function on Sigfox’s IoT network.
