The city of Soria in Spain has been granted €1.5 million in European funds to enhance the digitalization of its water cycle, complemented by nearly €500,000 of local funding. This initiative aims to optimize water usage across all phases of the cycle through innovative control and efficiency systems, potentially reducing water leaks and energy consumption by 14%. The project, global in scope, includes 15 actions that span the entire water cycle, from digitalizing water intakes at the Buitrago dam to implementing smart meters and advanced sewage network management systems. These measures are designed to make water management more sustainable, transparent, and adaptable to climate emergencies.
