The city of Torrent in Spain has activated 192 surveillance cameras to manage traffic and enhance public safety. Equipped with license plate readers, night vision, and high-definition recording capabilities, the cameras are part of a new video surveillance system installed by the city council. The installation, costing 700,000 euros is co-funded by municipal funds and Next Generation EU funds. The video surveillance system also integrates features for controlling public lighting. This functionality is part of the city’s comprehensive ‘Smart City’ project, which uses technological devices to improve urban operations and safety.
