San Diego plans to revive it smart-meter program, which was halted in 2018 due to a lack of qualified staff, by upgrading over 250,000 outdated meters to smart meters by 2029. With the project, the city aims to resolve prolonged billing investigations and unexpected high bills and reduce customer call times. Jacobs is conducting a three-month feasibility study to determine the best way to install the meters.
