In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Integrated Heat Health Information System, in collaboration with CAPA Strategies, is accepting applications from organizations interested in taking part in the 2024 Urban Heat Island mapping program. Community scientists are set to use car-mounted sensors to collect data on temperature, humidity, time, and GPS location in various neighbourhoods. The data will help map heat distribution, identify hot spots and tailor solutions to address urban heat islands. The application deadline is January 31st.
