The city of Astana has signed a $190 million, six-year agreement with Presight, a global leader in big data analytics and AI, to implement a smart city project. The initiative aims to digitize urban infrastructure, improve traffic management, and modernize public services using AI-powered solutions.
The project will introduce sensors and IoT-enabled infrastructure to create a digital twin of the city, enhancing livability, safety, and community well-being. Key benefits include reduced traffic congestion, faster emergency response times, and improved public services.
Kazakhstani companies will handle 60% of the project, ensuring local workforce involvement and in-country value creation. This follows Presight’s previous collaborations in Kazakhstan, including the development of an AI supercomputer and data center cluster with the Ministry of Digital Development and Samruk-Kazyna, as well as partnerships with Astana Hub to support tech startups.
To support its growing operations in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Presight has expanded its Astana office. The project reflects Astana’s commitment to sustainable urban development and digital transformation through ethical and transparent AI implementation.
