Antwerp-based venture capital firm Junction Growth Investors has successfully closed its first fund at €115 million, surpassing its initial €100 million target despite challenging market conditions. The fund, established in 2022, focuses on scaling European SMEs and startups driving the energy transition, with investments of up to €15 million per deal.

Backed by prominent family offices, institutional investors, and tech entrepreneurs, the fund has attracted support from stakeholders linked to AB InBev, Umicore, and global investment fund-of-funds Keeling Capital. Key institutional backers include the European Investment Fund (EIF), BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity, PMV, and the Belgian Growth Fund.

Since its launch, Junction Growth Investors has built an eight-member team and invested in seven companies across sectors such as grid-enhancing technologies, sustainable buildings, home energy management systems, and industrial decarbonization. The firm’s portfolio includes:

  • Ampacimon (Belgium): Specializes in grid-enhancing technologies to support low-cost grid expansion and renewable energy integration.
  • Eneida (Portugal): Focuses on solutions to increase renewable energy adoption and optimize grid performance.
  • Eturnity (Switzerland): Provides software to improve efficiency and digitalization for renewable energy installers and manufacturers.
  • EET (Austria): Offers smart plug-in battery solutions for renters and apartment owners to reduce energy costs and support the energy transition.
  • Hysopt (Belgium): A SaaS platform that optimizes complex HVAC systems in commercial and industrial buildings to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Haulogy (Belgium): Provides software solutions for Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and energy utilities, including asset management and congestion management tools.
  • Solora (Belgium): A B2B installer and maintainer of large-scale solar and battery storage systems in the Benelux and France, in which Junction recently acquired a majority stake.

The fund aims to accelerate Europe’s energy transition by supporting scalable, asset-light climate solutions and reducing the continent’s reliance on carbon fuels. Its focus on electrification and innovative technologies positions it as a key player in fostering sustainable growth and global competitiveness in the sector.
