The Belval campus near Esch-sur-Alzette will host a €3 million smart city pilot project, funded partly by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility. The three-year initiative will test AI, 5G, and IoT technologies to improve urban infrastructure.

A public-private consortium, including 5SKYE, Gcore, LIST, and Orange Luxembourg, will oversee the project. Three smart towers equipped with 5G, edge computing, and sensors will be installed to enhance real-time urban management.

The project aims to serve as a scalable model for other European cities seeking to integrate advanced digital solutions for more efficient and sustainable urban services.
