Candeleda Upgrades Street Lighting with €1 Million Investment

Candeleda has begun a €1 million street lighting modernization project, funded by the DUS 5000 program under the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. The initiative aims to replace 1,205 outdated light fixtures with energy-efficient LED technology across 1,371 lighting points.

The upgrade is expected to reduce energy consumption by 83%, cutting the annual electricity bill from €300,000 to €50,000. The new LED luminaires will feature multi-level dimming to adjust brightness based on nighttime schedules and road types, alongside remote management systems for improved monitoring and maintenance.

Additionally, 30 control panels will be updated to meet current regulations, with advanced remote management systems installed to track consumption and performance. The project, approved in March 2023, aligns with the municipality’s goals of enhancing sustainability, safety, and cost efficiency. The total budget is €1.19 million, with €1.02 million provided by state aid.
