Plano-based Emergent Connext, a rural IoT network operator and solutions integrator, has secured $5 million in seed funding to accelerate the rollout of its connectivity infrastructure across underserved areas in the U.S. The round drew over 20 investors from the agriculture and telecom sectors, including Verdelis Investments/ProAgInvest LLC and telecom executive Jim Timmer.
Emergent has already launched its network in California, Ohio, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, and Kentucky, aiming to improve data access and digital integration for industries such as agriculture, energy, utilities, and municipalities.
The company has formed strategic partnerships with Microsoft Airband, Tektelic Communications, and multiple rural ISPs to scale its sensor deployment and support precision farming and rural digitalization efforts.
