ENGIE Vianeo, the EV charging arm of ENGIE Group, has teamed up with BICS to integrate IoT technology into its charging stations. This partnership aims to enhance real-time data collection for remote maintenance and improved analytics. By utilizing BICS’ IoT connectivity portal ‘SIM for Things,’ ENGIE Vianeo will upgrade its charging infrastructure to provide better efficiency and user experience.

As the demand for EVs grows in Europe, with nearly 3.2 million new registrations in 2023, the need for more accessible charging stations increases. ENGIE Vianeo plans to install 12,000 charge points in France and over 5,000 in Belgium by 2025. BICS will provide the necessary connectivity, including SIM cards and internet access, enabling seamless integration and expansion across Europe. This collaboration aims to deploy around 50,000 connected devices, focusing initially on Belgium and later extending to France, Italy, and Spain.

The real-time data will allow users to check charger availability and status via a mobile app, enhancing customer experience and operational reliability.
