Inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome, FireDome, a Tel Aviv-based startup, has raised $4.5M in funding to advance its autonomous wildfire defense technology.

The funding includes a pre-seed round led by climate-tech investors Third Sphere and Gravity, with additional backing from Caesar Fund, Atooro Fund, and Vertex Ventures. The company also received a $1.5M grant from the Israeli Innovation Authority.

Founded in 2024, FireDome’s system employs a patent-pending two-tiered approach:

  1. Mechanical Launchers: These devices rapidly deploy eco-friendly fire retardant capsules to establish a protective barrier against advancing wildfires.
  2. Computer Vision Detection: Utilizing advanced computer vision technology, the system swiftly identifies and extinguishes spot fires caused by airborne embers that breach the primary barrier.

The system operates autonomously, continuously monitoring the property for signs of fire and activating only when necessary to ensure efficient and effective protection. The fire retardant should remain active for weeks, providing prolonged defense across various conditions.
