The Galician government, through Portos de Galicia, is investing €210,000 to replace traditional lighting with high-performance LED technology and remote-control software at Rianxo Port. The ongoing upgrade aims to modernize exterior lighting while cutting energy consumption by an estimated 60%.
The project is part of a broader €3 million initiative to install sustainable lighting across 30 regional ports. In Rianxo, 169 fixtures and spotlights will be replaced with durable LED systems designed for marine environments, including surge protection and remote-management capabilities.
The upgrade seeks to reduce both light pollution and environmental impact while improving visibility for port workers and visitors.
