Jacobs has been awarded a significant operational technology (OT) cybersecurity contract by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), a U.S. wastewater utility serving 1.9 million residents in southeast Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Valued at $13.4 million, the contract is one of the largest OT cybersecurity agreements in the U.S. wastewater sector.

The agreement focuses on enhancing cybersecurity for HRSD’s industrial control systems and physical infrastructure. It includes comprehensive measures such as cybersecurity assessments, the design and integration of advanced OT solutions, continuous monitoring, and network engineering. These efforts aim to protect over 30 square miles of wastewater infrastructure in the Hampton Roads corridor from evolving cyber threats.

The contract underscores the growing importance of cybersecurity in critical infrastructure, particularly in the water sector, where threats have risen significantly in recent years. Jacobs will leverage its expertise in industrial environments and OT cybersecurity to help HRSD strengthen its cyber resilience and maintain a secure operational network.
