The Puente Genil City Council has awarded a €1,008,523 contract to Electrotécnica Monrabal SLU to modernize its public lighting network. The initiative will replace 1,047 outdated luminaires with energy-efficient LED fixtures, targeting over 50% energy savings across the upgraded infrastructure.

In addition to improving energy efficiency, the project incorporates a remote management system. This smart lighting control will enable real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and remote adjustments of the lighting infrastructure—enhancing maintenance efficiency, reducing operational costs, and allowing adaptive lighting based on actual needs.

The contract was approved ahead of the June 18 deadline to comply with funding conditions from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), with full formalization expected by early August. Construction is scheduled to begin in September and will span approximately nine months.

Further improvements include a two-year extension to the standard 10-year luminaire warranty, an additional three-year construction warranty, and the deployment of a zero-emission vehicle for project operations.

The upgrade also involves adapting 18 existing control panels, replacing damaged support structures, partially renewing underground power lines to meet regulatory standards, and implementing lighting designs that minimize light pollution.
