Roswell, Georgia, has begun installing Applied Information’s GPS- and cellular‑based Glance Preemption and Priority system across its 107 city‑controlled traffic signals to speed up emergency responses and improve road safety. The system allows GPS‑equipped police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances to communicate wirelessly with traffic signal controllers, prompting green lights in their direction and halting conflicting traffic, accelerating intersections crossings even when vehicles turn. Applied Information claims that Glance is designed to reduce response times by up to 20%, based on previous deployments in nearby jurisdictions.
Rather than constructing new emergency facilities, Roswell is upgrading existing signal infrastructure through this technology. The rollout is scheduled for completion of all city‑managed signals by August 6, with Georgia Department of Transportation–controlled intersections expected to be equipped by the end of October.
By selecting Applied Information’s solution, Roswell joins other Georgia communities in leveraging smart traffic management systems to improve emergency operations
