Hey everyone, welcome to the city of Angers. This is the start of an intelligent territory encompassing everything from trash disposal, you can see cameras up on the streetlight there, there's also smart streetlights with LEDs, parking sensors in the ground. This is a really huge project, we have much more share so stick with current insights to learn more. The contract we have signed with a group of companies has a base budget of 120 million euros excluding the AT over 12 years. It's a project that began in 2020 when Andrzej selected the Engie Consortium to carry out its mission. Together they beat out the competition. Its plan is to deploy smart streetlights, increase parking efficiency, optimize waste collection, and reduce water and energy consumption in public spaces. Benefits that Engie says will deliver savings at top 100 million euros, enough to fund the majority of this project. And if that doesn't happen, the contractor will have to pay up. Now the electric prices are getting higher in France. They kind of compensate each other on the short term. But we are testing already energy savings. Specifically with the lighting? Specifically with the lighting, which is more advanced in terms of deployment. So far, the city has retrofitted over 4 ,000 luminaires with LEDs, about 15 % of its 30 ,000 goal. The plan is to add controls and sensors to the lights using a smart street light solution by LaCroix. The sensors will provide data on traffic and enable the lights to automatically turn on the presence of... pedestrian or a car, a feature known as dynamic lighting. To enable these uses, the city will update 10,000 poles and 5,000 electric cabinets. A fiber network deployed back in the early 2000s provide connectivity to the cabinets. And everything is linked by cables for now. The concerns for security makes us more inclined to use cable connections, especially private. network like this one on which it is much easier to ensure a high level of security. The city has yet to decide how it will connect its light points to the cabinets. The city will either use LaCrosse Tejas PLC solution or a smart node wireless system. Once connected, the controls will enable remote monitoring, meaning Engie can monitor the streetlights from here. The command center sets open this year. It features Engie's hypervisor platform known as LaCrosse. live -in that incorporates data flow from various smart city services it combines that data with cross department information enabling ng to monitor all resources and instantly react to potential triggers it's a 5 million euro investment but it's just the beginning in the coming years angie will have a 3d digital twin based off ultra high definition photos The digital twin isn't expected to be complete anytime soon, instead this project more so focuses on the hypervisor platform and the nine city services connected to it. For instance, smart waste. This is a project that got its beginnings in 2014 when the city began to deploy sensors inside its waste containers. These sensors alert the city to overflow and even fires. Working in Suez, NG is now on a mission to reduce waste collection by 10%. The city has deployed around 200 filling sensors and also cameras in some areas. You can see cameras up on the streetlight there. They sent messages pre-recorded that actually when... people try and throw out their trash next to a bin or it's too large that message will tell them to go someplace else to dispose of it in the same parking lot you'll also find ground sensors to monitor parking just another example of the thousands of sensors that are on the way for this region as you might imagine they're generating a lot of data and a push to alleviate concerns around data privacy doka post a subsidiary of the national mail company la post will store and archive data related to smart city applications on its servers in France and the data will remain as Angers local property. This is important because a big element to this project is the inclusion of health. That's the role of the VIV group whose platform will list all services that are designed to optimize residents access to health care. One example? Now still a lot more needs to be done in order to achieve the objectives of this project. And so far, the biggest challenge in getting there... The transformation of our organizations. We have to deploy a lot of equipment all over the city, and we have to do this by making work together different services of our organization. Sometimes it's challenging for our private partners because there is a lot of interconnection between the work of the different companies that are partners for this project. Now let's look at the intelligent territory underway in Ajay. For more coverage and how it unfolds be sure to stick with Current Insights and if you on this story, hit the button below.
