ACCIONA Wins €18 Million Contract to Upgrade Costa Rica’s Water Networks

ACCIONA has secured an €18 million contract to provide operational and engineering services for 1,165 kilometers of drinking water supply networks across Costa Rica, including San José, Guadalupe in the Greater Metropolitan Area, and the districts of Guácimo and Limón on the Atlantic coast.

The project will begin with hydraulic modeling and network sectorization, followed by large-scale installation of meters, macro-meters, pressure-reducing valves, and advanced control systems for leak detection and fraud prevention. These measures aim to reduce water losses, accelerate repairs, and improve efficiency.

ACCIONA has been active in Costa Rica since 2012, notably building the Los Tajos wastewater treatment plant and operating the 49.5 MW Chiripa wind farm in Guanacaste.
