The City of Alcoy and Telefónica have launched a pioneering smart building initiative as part of the broader “Alcoi Smart City” project, turning the future Rodes Technology Park into a connected, energy-efficient facility.

Telefónica has implemented Spain’s first Building Management System (BMS) of this kind, integrating lighting, climate control, water usage, fire detection, and more into a centralized, intelligent platform.

The solution leverages industrial IoT nodes to monitor facilities like Rodes and the Eduardo Latorre sports center in real time. Data from these nodes feeds into both the BMS and Alcoy’s existing smart city platform based on FIWARE, also developed by Telefónica.
