Data Direct Expands into Smart Cities with Kinsetsu Acquisition

Dublin’s longstanding IT procurement firm Data Direct has acquired Belfast-based IoT specialist Kinsetsu through its newly formed subsidiary Kiniot Ltd. Kinsetsu, known for its ktrack® platform offering real-time IoT tracking, smart mapping, and sensor-driven workflows across healthcare, government, transport, and commercial sectors, will retain operational independence but gain the expanded vendor support of Data Direct, including HP, Dell EMC, Apple, and Microsoft.

The move bolsters both firms’ smart city capabilities, particularly in enabling intelligent asset tracking, environmental monitoring, footfall analysis, and smart transport.

The acquisition maintains Kinsetsu’s existing operations, customers, and staff, while integrating it into Data Direct’s supplier ecosystem.
