Detroit has deployed the HAAS Alert Safety Cloud across its fire and police fleets, becoming the largest US city to implement the system.
HAAS Alert, a mobility safety technology company headquartered at Newlab at Michigan Central, developed Safety Cloud to improve road safety by connecting emergency services with civilian drivers.
The platform delivers real-time digital alerts to drivers using Waze, Apple Maps, and certain Stellantis and Volkswagen vehicles when emergency responders with active lights are nearby. It also includes responder-to-responder features to reduce collisions between emergency vehicles.
The rollout follows a 10-month pilot involving Detroit Fire Department units that generated more than 100,000 alerts.
