Divonne-les-Bains has launched a targeted enforcement initiative to address the persistent issue of illegal dumping by installing smart cameras provided by Vizzia.
These automatic trigger devices, strategically placed across key areas of the city, are designed to detect and document waste abandonment in real time. The collected data is processed exclusively by municipal authorities, with strict adherence to privacy regulations, and is used solely to identify and prosecute environmental offences. Since the system went live in spring 2025, 15 fines have already been issued.
Offenders face escalating penalties: €135 if paid within 45 days, rising to €375 or €750 for delays, and up to €1,500 for serious cases involving vehicle use, which may also lead to vehicle seizure. This shift from awareness to enforcement underscores the city’s commitment to preserving public spaces and ensuring urban cleanliness.
