A new 3D Urban Energy Model of the Dublin Town Business Improvement District has been unveiled by IES, offering a detailed digital twin of over 3,000 buildings in the city centre. Commissioned by Dublin Town, the organisation representing more than 2,000 local businesses, the model integrates live operational data and physics-based simulation to assess energy use, carbon emissions, and retrofit opportunities at building level. Developed using IES’s urban modelling engine and stakeholder platform, the tool enables users to run scenarios ranging from light behavioural changes to deep retrofits and renewable energy deployment. The initiative supports Dublin City Council’s 2030 climate targets by providing financial and carbon-saving forecasts for each building. IES is also offering free audit support to eligible SMEs through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s voucher scheme, while its IES Live platform delivers site-specific decarbonisation plans validated with real-time data.
