Electric grid manager Red Eléctrica is set to launch a multi-scale digital twin to oversee and guide the development of its infrastructure in Spain. The initiative will utilize Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform combined with their Integrated Built Environment solution, selected through a competitive tender process.
This advanced system should enable up to 1,500 users to access a centralized database of the network’s assets in real-time. By providing a unified visualization of the entire electrical grid, stakeholders can examine equipment at various levels—from national transmission lines to individual substation components—tailored to their specific needs. The platform is built on a shared data environment, ensuring that all users have access to the most current and relevant asset information within its geographical context. Additionally, it handles data access governance, tracks changes, maintains compliance, and coordinates project workflows.
The adoption of Dassault Systèmes’ digital twin technology is aimed at effectively integrating decarbonized energy sources into the high-voltage network.
