In France, the Ministry of the Interior has selected three companies for its smart video surveillance pilot program for the 2024 Olympic Games. The scheme consisted of four lots, each estimated at €2 million. Wintics secured two lots in algorithm deployment for the Île-de-France region and in the transportation sector and both Videtics and Chapsvision secured one lot each. With the initiative, authorities aim to detect predefined situations like abandoned objects or crowd movements, leaving face recognition out of the equation. This scheme marks a significant move towards enhancing security and surveillance capabilities for major public events in France.
