Wildfire detection solutions are really taking off. We’ve seen Cornell University is installing PurpleAir sensors across 28 New York counties to monitor wildfire particulates in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency. Ukiah, California, in partnership with Pano AI, is deploying AI-equipped cameras for improved fire detection. Xcel Energy, also in the US, is extending the technology in Colorado, using 21 Pano AI camera systems for real-time wildfire monitoring over 1.5 million acres. And down under, Australia’s Sunshine Coast is adopting an AI-assisted program by Exci, to use satellite imagery and ground cameras for advanced fire detection and safety in anticipation of a severe fire season due to the El Niño phenomenon.
