Water utilitiy Global Omnium and Telefónica Tech have partnered with Google Cloud to drive innovation in the water sector using artificial intelligence (AI). The collaboration aims to enhance efficiency, traceability, and service quality through AI, data analytics, and predictive modeling.
As part of the agreement, Telefónica Tech will provide Google Cloud’s public cloud solutions to Global Omnium, enabling scalable and flexible digital infrastructure. The partnership has already yielded results, including an AI-powered coastal monitoring system to track and protect underwater seagrass (Posidonia meadows) in the Mediterranean.
This alliance builds on a previous 2021 initiative where the companies deployed NB-IoT technology to connect 450,000 water meters.
