Greece’s Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator, or HEDNO, is set to deploy 3.1 million smart meters in its first phase with support from the European Investment Bank. The phase involves a €150 million loan and the total cost is estimated at €546 million. With the project, running until 2026, the aim is to reduce losses, enable remote operations, improve demand forecasting, and enhance energy efficiency. The full nationwide rollout of about 7.5 million smart meters is planned to be completed by 2030.
