Ireland Launches Deposit Return Scheme with Sensoneo

Ireland introduced on February 1st its Deposit Return Scheme, becoming the 15th European country to adopt the system for single-use beverage containers. With the initiative, the country aims to hit EU recycling targets of 77% by 2025 and 90% by 2029. Managed by Re-turn and leveraging Sensoneo’s cloud-based software, the scheme is for PET plastic bottles and aluminium cans, with deposits varying by container size, offering consumers refunds in cash or against purchases.
