Upcoming projectCyprusCity of LarnacaMobility and Traffic

Larnaca Municipality is set to introduce a €2 million smart parking system by late spring as part of its “Larnaca Becomes a Smart City” initiative. The project, which also includes upgrades to street lighting and waste management, is scheduled to begin installation in early March following the completion of the tender process.
The system will be implemented in municipal car parks in Mackenzie and the city center, with completion aimed before the start of the tourist season. It will feature sensors at parking spots, including electric vehicle charging stations, to wirelessly transmit data to a central smart platform. This will enable real-time monitoring of parking availability and average usage during peak hours.
A mobile application will allow users to check parking availability and make electronic payments. Special provisions will be made for disabled users, local residents, and delivery vehicles. The municipality also plans to integrate the system with other public and private parking facilities to offer a comprehensive overview of parking options citywide.
The smart parking initiative is part of Larnaca’s broader digital transformation program, which includes enhancements to street lighting and waste management systems.
