Lazio (Latium) Region Launches €60 Million Tender for Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings

The Latium (Lazio) region has initiated a €60 million tender aimed at improving energy efficiency in public buildings. The initiative, funded under the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) for Latium 2021-2027, targets municipalities with over 20,000 inhabitants, totaling 39 eligible areas. The funds will be divided into two key areas: €40 million for enhancing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and €20 million for promoting renewable energy in line with EU directives.

The plan prioritizes upgrades to schools and sports facilities, which are often high-energy consumers and in need of modernization. The regional government emphasized the importance of supporting local authorities in achieving energy transition goals.

During a meeting at the regional council headquarters in Rome, technical experts and FEDER fund managers outlined the application process for interested municipalities. The funding allocation will be proportional to the population and size of each municipality, with incentives for projects focusing on schools and sports infrastructure.

The initiative represents a significant step toward addressing energy challenges and promoting sustainable development in the region.
