The city of Llíria in Spain will invest €6.15 million to replace 87% of its public lighting with energy-efficient LED technology. The project, set for completion within 12 months, will upgrade 5,061 light points across industrial zones, the regional hospital, residential areas, and urbanizations.
The switch to LED is expected to reduce energy consumption by 61%, saving 2.2 million kWh annually. The upgrade includes modernizing control systems, distribution networks, and implementing remote management technology for better efficiency.
Additionally, the plan covers traffic light replacements, smart city infrastructure for parking and pedestrian crossings, and maintenance of festive and decorative lighting. The initiative is part of Llíria’s broader €41 million investment strategy running until 2027.
Previous upgrades under the Sustainable Energy Plan have already converted 13% of the town’s lighting to LED.
