Swiss startup Perovskia Solar has raised $2.4 million in seed funding and secured 10 customers for its innovative IoT-focused perovskite solar technology. A spin-off from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), Perovskia develops printed solar cells designed to power edge IoT devices by harvesting ambient light at disruptive costs. These cells are ready for adoption and offer a flexible design, capable of being printed in various shapes and sizes to optimize surface area without compromising performance. The cells can generate over 80uW/cm² of power from 1000 lux.

With funding from a global coalition of angel investors and early-stage funds, including Kickfund and D&FG Elements, Perovskia is scaling up production to a capacity of one million cells. The company is also automating its production process to maintain high standards of quality.
