Water Corporation (WA) is upgrading Perth’s water distribution system in collaboration with Itron. The partnership will deploy Itron’s Temetra® platform, a cloud-based, multi-vendor meter data management solution, across 16,000 new smart water meters in the city.

As part of the Perth Smart Water Meter Pilot, this initiative aims to improve water conservation by leveraging detailed analytics from the smart meters. Temetra® that integrates data from various meter manufacturers and communication networks should facilitate WA’s transition from traditional mechanical meters to advanced smart infrastructure.

The project, launched in September 2024, is set to go live in April 2025. It will enable WA to better manage water usage, address ongoing drought challenges, and enhance customer service by providing comprehensive usage insights.

This upgrade should equip WA with advanced data analytics tools, optimizing water distribution and enabling swift responses to customer inquiries about water usage and billing.
