Vodafone has integrated its Safer Transport for Europe Platform (STEP) with the Netherlands’ Urban Data Access Platform (UDAP) to improve emergency vehicle response times and road safety.

The integration enables real-time data sharing between emergency vehicles and connected road users, alerting drivers to make way before emergency vehicles are visible or audible. UDAP, managed by Monotch for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure, currently links 25% of Dutch drivers and all ambulances in the country.

STEP uses V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technology to bridge data gaps, allowing seamless communication between vehicles, infrastructure, and authorities. The collaboration aims to optimize traffic flow and reduce emergency response delays across Europe.

Launched in 2022, STEP supports open standards to foster industry-wide cooperation in road safety. The partnership with UDAP marks another step toward smarter and safer transportation systems.
