Thames Water Awards £180M Smart Meter Contract

Thames Water has awarded a contract worth over £180 million for AMP8/9, focusing on smart water meters, goods, and services. This covers supplying Smart Water Meters (SWM), Local Communication Equipment (LCE), and Head End Systems (HES) using NB-IoT for data collection.

The initial 3-year term, extendable up to 8 years, has a projected value of £181.8 million. Key segments include:

  • Lot 1a: Concentric Smart Meters, LCE, and HES valued at £133.3 million.
  • Lot 1b: In-Line Smart Meters, LCE, and HES valued at £48.5 million.

Elster Water Meter Ltd will supply Lot 1a, while Sensus UK Ltd (Xylem) will handle Lot 1b, with installations set for completion by March 2025 under the Green Economic Recovery initiative.
