New Project (Full-Scale)BrasilTIMStreet Lighting
Published on March 15, 2025
Telecom Operator TIM has announced the expansion of smart lighting solutions across multiple Brazilian cities. It has partnered with Sitran to deploy smart lighting solutions in several cities with plans to install 17,000 devices in Barbacena alone. The initiative, branded as TIM Smart Lighting, also extends to eight other cities across Paraná, Amapá, Roraima, Bahia, and Mato Grosso do Sul. The project includes GPS-enabled asset management, Wi-Fi, and camera integration, supported by M2M Telemetry and NB-IoT networks.
While the smart lighting project opens possibilities for additional sensor installations, including public safety applications, TIM has not confirmed further plans or the potential integration of 5G antennas in these areas. The initiative operates under public-private partnerships (PPPs) with local municipalities.
