Norway-based Tomra Systems ASA has acquired 80% of the shares in C-Trace GmbH, a German company specializing in digital waste management solutions, with the option to acquire the remaining 20% held by C-Trace’s founders after two years. Founded in 2005, C-Trace integrates software and hardware for waste management digitization, emphasizing AI-driven capabilities that streamline collection, sorting, and operational efficiency. The company employs around 120 people and currently generates 80% of its revenue within Germany.

This acquisition should enable Tomra to expand its offerings in waste management and recycling, adding advanced digitalization across the recycling value chain. By leveraging Tomra’s global footprint, the partnership aims to accelerate C-Trace’s international presence and increase recycling rates by turning waste into valuable resources. This acquisition aligns with Tomra’s strategic focus to drive profitable growth and diversify revenue through acquisitions in adjacent markets, enhancing its impact on sustainable waste management.
