The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has awarded Econolite an expanded contract to deploy Ouster’s BlueCity lidar-based traffic management solution across more than 100 intersections in the state. The move follows the successful rollout of the system at a dozen intersections earlier this year. BlueCity, developed by Ouster and integrated with Econolite’s Cobalt® controllers and EOS firmware, uses 3D digital lidar and AI-driven perception software to improve traffic flow, enhance safety for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, and provide real-time analytics.
Initial expansion will target intersections in Cedar City, Ogden, Orem, and Salt Lake City. Econolite, part of Umovity, will lead the deployment in partnership with Ouster.
