Almería will receive €2.36 million from Spain’s Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), under the second round of funding aimed at improving municipal outdoor lighting. The funding is part of a broader €113 million national program led by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, with €41.2 million allocated to Andalusia.
In the province, the municipalities of Vícar and Níjar will benefit directly. Vícar is set to receive just over €1 million to enhance lighting in La Envía, Vícar, and Llanos de Vícar, while Níjar will receive €1.33 million for upgrades in Campohermoso, San Isidro, and Níjar.
The aid is provided as a 10-year interest-free loan, covering 100% of project costs with no fees or guarantees required. It prioritizes projects that reduce energy consumption and emissions through LED lighting and remote management systems that adjust light levels to local needs.
