The Regional Government of Andalusia has announced details on the new round of grants under the Order CITI from the Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation, aimed at fostering the development of smart cities and regions. A total of 311 municipalities and autonomous local entities, encompassing 1.3 million residents, will benefit from 21 smart city projects valued at €9.25 million, set to be tendered in June.

Funded through the FEDER Andalusia 2021-2027 program, €7.4 million of the total budget will be provided in kind by the Ministry, with the remaining €1.8 million covered by municipal corporations and entities. These projects, facilitated through competitive grants, will implement technological initiatives across multiple domains such as mobility, well-being, governance, economy, environment, and smart platforms to enhance the quality of life.

The bidding process, which involves collaboration between the Andalusian Society for the Development of Telecommunications (Sandetel) and various local governments, will focus on proven smart development solutions. The implementation and execution of these projects will be managed by Sandetel, ensuring that the smart city model fully integrates innovative social, economic, and technological advancements.
