The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) has signed a multi-year agreement with Q-Free to modernize its Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) using Q-Free’s Kinetic Mobility platform.

The upgrade includes multiple Kinetic Mobility modules, such as traffic event monitoring, digital signage, travel time data, weather integration, corridor management, and video surveillance. The system’s modular design allows Iowa DOT to implement only the necessary features, optimizing costs and efficiency.

The contract includes an 18-month deployment phase followed by at least two years of maintenance. Iowa DOT manages over 9,600 miles of roads and collaborates with more than 600 external partners, including emergency services and neighboring states.

This marks the second statewide deployment of Kinetic Mobility, following its implementation in West Virginia earlier this year.
