Surrey-based NatureMetrics, a specialist in nature intelligence and biodiversity monitoring, has successfully raised €24.3 million in its Series B funding round. The investment was led by Just Climate, EDF Pulse Ventures, and the Monaco ReOcean Fund, with participation from existing investors including 2150, BNP Paribas, Ananda Impact Ventures, and SWEN Blue Ocean.

The funding will support the development of NatureMetrics’ cutting-edge solutions, such as its environmental DNA (eDNA) technology and AI-enhanced Nature Intelligence Platform. Established in 2014, the company operates laboratories in the UK and Canada, with a partner lab in Indonesia, and serves over 600 organizations across 110 countries.

NatureMetrics aims to enhance its platform to provide actionable biodiversity insights, expand its AI and digital capabilities, and increase its global presence to meet the rising demand for robust biodiversity data driven by regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

The funds will be allocated to several primary initiatives:

  • Upgrading the Nature Intelligence Platform to provide practical biodiversity insights.
  • Enhancing AI and digital capabilities for managing complex geospatial and bioacoustic data.
  • Expanding global operations to meet the increasing demand for biodiversity monitoring solutions.
